Volunteer Opportunities
Wish Granter
Meet with the wish child
and wish family to discover, plan, and fulfill a wish. Wish
granters work in teams of two and use resources wisely by seeking
donated goods and services for each wish. Volunteers commit their
time to make the wish as unique as each child and a lasting, memorable
experience for each wish family. Best suits volunteers over the
age of 21 with creativity, energy, and clever enthusiasm. Time
commitments of a wish granter is approximately 20 hours over a three
month period.
Office Angels
Join our office staff team
to help answer the telephone, stuff envelopes, input computer data, or
assist with special office projects. Computer skills are helpful,
and best suits volunteers with great customer service skills, an
adaptable attitude, and daytime availability.
Wishmakers®
Organizes, staffs, and
implements successful fund raising events. Fund Raising Assistants
may work on an event committee, take on committee leadership roles, or
help out on the event day. Whatever the role, Fund Raising
Assistants can determine their own level of involvement. This role
best suits volunteers with creative determination, are enthusiastic
about spreading the word about the Foundation, and are willing to ask
people to financially support the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the
Mid-South.
Pre-Flight Captain
Bid farewell to wish
children and families leaving on travel wishes. Meets the family
at the airport, helps them get checked in, and distributes travel money
to the family. Best suits someone familiar with the local airport
and is able to comfort a family nervous about flying or traveling far
from home.
Event Volunteer
Choose from a variety of event duties including, but
not limited to: host registration tables, work roadblocks and phone
banks during radio-thons, set-up and breakdown of event sites, hole
watchers at golf tournaments, collecting tickets, oversee silent
auction, sign-holders at 5K runs and much more.
